Colleagues of IT4ALL in America and Australia organize very interesting live online events from February 5-7 2010. I got an invitation via Facebook.
They want the would-be participants to introduce themselves, so this was my introduction:

"Dear colleagues,
I am a male person,M.A., 64, a teacher of German, English and educational ICT and I just retired from my profession as a senior lecturer in Vihti high school Finland in 2010. Beside my job as a teacher I have worked as a teacher-in-service trainer since 1996 focusing on educational ICT and on the exploitation of the Internet in schools.
I was active in the European Schools Project (ESP) Association 1995 - 2007 being the Finnish coordinator of the network. The first electronic school project of the ESP was carried out between Augustinus College in Amsterdam and a school in Telegraph Creek Canada in 1987, so it was quite logical for me to join these pioneers of educational ICT and of project-based eLearning in the 1990s. I had started making school projects e.g. with schools in Sao Paulo Brazil, Adelaide Australia and schools In Japan in early 1990s.
Finland joined the European Union in 1995. After that I have put a lot of effort on Comenius and other educational projects of the EU. The Comenius 3 project COMP@CT 2002-2004 brought me into contact with some colleagues with whom we founded Euneos, the company for bringing web skills and web tools into schools, in 2005. We participate in EU projects (COMP@CT, EFELCREN, WebCEF, LETHE, Bridging Insula Europae, CEFcult) and organize courses, such as "Midnight Sun" eJournalism course in Inari Lapland in midsummers, and WebCEF courses to teachers who want to learn online assessment of oral proficiency in foreign languages.
Since 2006 Euneos Corp. has also developed the project EUMIND, Europe Meets India, where there is both virtual and geographic mobility between schools. In the beginning, Dutch schools have been most active in project-based eLearning (PBeL),
both online and live online, thanks to their system of using CLIL, Content and Language Integrated Learning, in the syllabuses of a great number of schools in the Netherlands. So far the EUMIND schools in India are situated in Mumbai and in its neighbourhood. Regarding successful web conferencing it is important that the time zones in Europe and in Asia do not differ too much. For example, in Finland the time difference from India is only 2,5 hours in summer and 3,5 hrs in winter. Schools in India operate and teach in English, so the challenge of the language is just appropriate for European schools with CLIL in their syllabus.
BTW, the time zones between Europe and two Americas are so much different that live online events have to take place at times which are not so convenient. When Europeans work, Americans sleep ;-).
In 2002 I was one of the founders of Dafnord, the network of non-native teachers of German. Dafnord was an associated member of the thematic Comenius 3 project DaF Netzwerk 2004-2006. Dafnord Association was founded in 2005, and in May 2006 Dafnord started the Tuesday Round, the training service for those who teach German as a foreign language (DaF), together with Austrian colleagues of the network webCampus:Projects. Since then more than one hundred Tuesday Round evenings about how to exploit the web in teaching German have been realized on a regular weekly basis. I usually share the moderation task with Angelika Güttl-Strahlhofer from Vienna. The teachers who attend come from a dozen of European countries and from outside of Europe too.
I think that as long as I feel well I want to go on working on the issues of educational ICT, and especially on project-based eLearning. I feel that PBeL corresponds most to the urgent global challenges of our time, and I experience a lot of satisfaction when I have the feeling that what I am doing can - at its best - contribute a bit to the common effort for fighting ignorance, poverty and other basic problems that I think are really preventing the world from being a better place.

Bests,
